Alessia Iovinelli joins the BIOFIN team as a Knowledge Management Specialist with a decade of experience in environmental policy, project management, stakeholder engagement, and communications.
She previously served as a Biodiversity Programme Officer with UNEP in Nairobi, supporting the organization of UNCBD CoP16 and UNCCD CoP16, and working on several initiatives contributing to the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework, such as the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership and Nature4Health.
She also worked for several years for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) at its headquarters in Switzerland and at the regional office for the Mediterranean in Spain. Her work focused on conducting research to identify governance gaps and crafting science-based recommendations for decision-makers. Her contributions extended beyond research and policy analysis to encompass project design, planning and evaluation, knowledge management, and capacity building across a spectrum of initiatives, focusing on marine conservation, climate change, and Nature-based Solutions.
An Italian national, Alessia holds a Master of Laws from the University of Bologna and pursued advanced studies in Sustainability Management in Switzerland. She is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
