South Africa is updating its National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAPs) to align with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and its Target 15, which calls for greater transparency on how companies and financial institutions impact nature.
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) is convening a national consultation with the private sector and real economy stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity for businesses, financial institutions, and sustainability professionals to help shape South Africa’s approach to biodiversity and nature-related disclosures.
Key topics include:
- Mainstreaming nature-related risk and opportunity disclosures (TNFD, GRI 304, ISSB)
- Sector-specific risks, dependencies, and opportunities for biodiversity-positive action
- Incentives, policy signals, and public-private collaboration for a nature-positive economy
#All interested stakeholders to participate and contribute to building a future where business and biodiversity thrive together#
