Malawi’s Financial Needs Assessment (FNA)

DECEMBER 16, 2021

Malawi’s Financial Needs Assessment (FNA) estimates the financial resources required to achieve the country’s national and sub-national biodiversity targets under the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP II 2015–2025). The assessment estimates that approximately US$92.7 million is needed between 2020 and 2025.

The largest financing requirement, approximately US$33.8 million, is associated with reducing direct pressures on biodiversity. The assessment also highlights data gaps that have made it difficult to quantify Malawi’s overall biodiversity finance gap.
